Simple whole grain bread rolls.

After many holidays and days off school and work is going to resume tomorrow.
Fitting this occasion I have a superfast, simple and at the same time delicious bread roll recipe – 20-year-old Jonathan supplied it and he was very anxious for me to tell you about it (“it just has to be posted on your blog!”).
So here it is.

The best thing about it: the bread rolls won’t rise very high, so that there is plenty of room for piling on toppings, and take them to school or office.
Due to the wholegrain dough you can bake them the evening before, as they will stay fresh for a long time.

The recipe consists of only 3 ingredients and the preparation takes about 10 minutes – I am not such a talented bread baker and everything still worked out fantastically.

Simple whole grain bread rolls:

2 cups whole grain spelt flour
2 cups whole grain wheat flour
(I only had whole grain wheat flour left and doubled the amount, it worked perfectly)
2,5 tsp salt
1 Tbsp activated dry yeast(alternatively 1 cube of live yeast)

1. Mix activated yeast with the flour, no need to add water.
If using live yeast, dissolve in a scant half cup of warm water.

2. Mix all ingredients together, add 1 ½ cups of warm water and knead with a mixer fitted with a dough hook.

3. Shape small rolls with moist hands.
If dough is too liquid to shape, add some more flour.
Let rise in a warm place for 10 minutes.

4. Bake at 300° in a convection oven for about 20 minutes.

The striped bowls are from Manjana Home, the wooden trough is a flea market find.

Kati from Liandoo took you on the winter walk.

We do not go for so many walks these days -  we tear down walls, and remove rubble in the loft.
Tons of it.
The short video is deceiving, by the way: the 10” walls inside the factory are so solid that the building could easily survive an earth quake.
Good for us, if here will ever be an earth quake in Germany.
Bad thing, if you want to remove walls.

None of the people who demolished them yesterday is able to move today – something I really cannot relate to, since I did most of the work and I am absolutely fine!

Now all it takes is some sweeping and we can move in pretty much straight away.
Maybe mop the floors a bit.

Don’t you agree?

Love,

Joanna
