I love Window Cleaner: a day chez Liebesbotschaft.

1. One thing the blog reader does not suspect:
There has been an addition behind the scenes of the blog for the past few months:
Charlotte (some of you will already be familiar with her) is back working for me a few hours at a time and gives me the gift of her wonderfully humorous and fantastic personality.

No good news, unfortunately:

Lotta is going on a trip around the world in a few days.
(or let’s put it this way: ONLY, if the plan to break both of her legs, so that she has to stay, doesn’t work out.)
I spontaneously ask Lotta at lunch, whether she couldn’t write her own travel blog from abroad?
"It will be enough, if you post a selfie with tanned guys from every capital city. It would quite satisfy our need for local color. Fernando from Rio, Lasse and Bosse from Stockholm, Jack (shirtless) from Sidney, how about it?”
Noelle: "Oh, go on, Lotta! And then you’ll be famous and you’ll be in the Ludwigsburger Kreiszeitung (our local newspaper)!”

2.... because, guess what (I’m the master of transitions):

I will now sue that daily paper, for what do I read in today’s edition?
"...it was clear from the start for the 40-year-old.”

40-year-old?

FOOOOORTYYYY?!

It’s exactly another 8 weeks to my birthday and then this.

(All of you non-residents of Ludwigsburg can read it
online ).

3. I would like to attend to more positive subjects now, but it doesn’t get any better:

I wanted to make super healthy fruity gummy worms.

Well.

Let’s put it this way:
little preparation + eightyninetrillion baking time = everything, but nothing that looks like fruity gummy candy.
Usually a visual disaster like this would never make it onto the blog, but:
the stuff tastes awesome. .
No, not like salami or jerky: very fruity and genuinely addictive! Yet it contains absolutely no ingredient other than fruit.

So if you are interested in the recipe and especially if you are able to ignore the horrible visual appearance – (and the latter is by far the more difficult part, I’m just saying!), I will be glad to post it for you later.

(just had an idea, you could use it to great effect for a kiddie birthday party with a “Native American” motto. As a substitute for
pemmican.)

4. A substitute in the form of 15” has moved in, too.

Unfortunately the old laptop’s engine noises didn’t stop, resulting in the purchase of “Mr. bigger, better, thinner” (I don’t care so much anymore for the panicked skipping of breaths, now that I’m
nearly 40 THIRTY-NINE. “What, if the PC dies and all the data is gone?!”, What, if I cannot watch the last episode of Shopping Queen online anymore?”, etc. You know what I mean.)

As soon as the new one had arrived, the noises of the little one stopped abruptly.

What the heck?!

And now, exclusively for you:
A little synopsis of the months chez Liebesbotschaft – written by Charlotte herself!

"Usually it wouldn’t be so earth-shakingly difficult to describe a day in the life of Liebesbotschaft, but that would not measure up to the cause.

That’s why I give you a few"random facts about Joanna":

1. Every morning, after the door bursts open enthusiastically, you will be showered in kisses.
Every morning.

2. After this you will hear the mandatory sentence: “Honey, would you like some tea?”
Every morning.
On second thoughts…it repeats throughout the day. .
Until that dark day when it turned into “HONEY, COULD YOU MAKE TEA FOR ME!”.
Excuse: “You are part of the family now.”
Next thing, I was expected to attend a parent meeting.

3. Even buried in mountains of serious work you can mess around with her in the space of a second, until you can barely sit up straight as your stomach hurts from so much laughing.

4. She has very low expectations of me (Oh, go on! Which expectations?!):
„And I thought we’d have warm chocolate cake?”,
„You could have gone ahead and straightened the basement!”,
„It was actually YOUR job to water the herbs in the backyard (I see)!”

All of this leads to one of the essential topics:

5. Her sense of humor .

Dear public:
Even if she seems funny on her blog, it is not even a fraction of how funny she is in real life and I could listen to her for hours, once she starts talking.

6. Her food is always delicious!
Always!
Seriously.
Even though I had to was allowed to do it myself at some point.
(After 45 minutes of a multitasking-celebrity-chef-Johann-Lafer-can-go-home-performance: „Just as an aside…Jamie needs 15 minutes for this! What takes you so long??!” – Dear Jamie Oliver. With all due respect, please never ever give a time estimate for the recipes again ever. Pleeeeaaaaase!!!)

Truth is that for this reason the most delicious things in the world are served up every day – even without Instagram/Blogger/whoever knowing about it.

7. She is very enthusiastic about what she does.
She puts great effort into everything and is only satisfied, once it is per-fect.
(original Joanna G. soundtrack after she has tried several times to rearrange the entire set-up consisting of about forty-nine parts, because something in the photograph is bugging her – we are probably at today’s picture #7654894:”No, I am not a perfectionist, noooo!”), but this is exactly what makes her work special.

8. She is incredibly honest – if something doesn’t work out she’ll say it and that’s that.
Problem solved.
Or when she thinks something is to die for/insanely great/great/not quite so great/not great at all at all.
She doesn’t say things just to have said them, but she always means it 100%.

9. She is wonderfully uncomplicated – well, her black tea may not brew more than 2,84946 seconds and as soon as the chocolate cake’s consistency has surpassed a certain stage (reached after exactly Pi multiplied by e to the 2.71 minutes), there’s unfortunately nothing that can be done to save it – but despite it all she is insanely uncomplicated!

10. She is partial to window cleaner.
Yes, you read that right, dear reader.
Dear cleaning agent industry:
if this sector of the economy was run by Joanna G., several cleaning agent companies would have had to close their doors long ago.
There is something that has long beat you to it: window cleaner!
For everything.
No matter what.
Window cleaner works every time!
(And really: its’ true.)

11. Her ways with people.
With the blink of an eye she wraps everybody around her finger and they find themselves adoring her.
Her biggest desire is to simply help everyone to greatness, to just lift them up and make them laugh out loud.

12. She is one of the most generous people that I know and I love how she deals with money.
Even if she will probably burst out laughing at this point and say: “Yeah, come on, let’s just go to shoe heaven later on and I’ll show you how I deal with money!”.

13. She never gets wound up about anything she does, but always stays relaxed.
Always.
She knows everything will always work out just fine, however, she makes demands on herself, so that the end result is always top notch.

14. She is self-assured without being condescending – she knows exactly who she is and acts accordingly.
At the same time she considers it the worst, if somebody is insecure and feels inferior – as soon as she notices this she will talk about it and whoosh! It’s over.

15. She is incredibly intelligent and has impressive general knowledge.
Within a few minutes of talking to Joanna G. you can cover subjects spanning YouTube videos (let’s just say…they are NUMEROUS!), education policy and architecture, and Shopping Queen.

16. Car rides with her.
Reasons for them: see 17) and the aforementioned sense of humor.
She also always carries pillows with her.

Dear Joanna,
I gives me great pleasure that I had the honor of spending so much time with you.
You are beyond words, fascinating and have wrapped me around your finger more than anyone else by far!

I REALLY DO LOVE YOU.

AND WE LOVE YOU, CHARLOTTE!

THANK YOU FOR THE WONDERFUL TIME WITH YOU!
And we are waiting for a picture with Fernando!
Shirtless, you know what I’m talking about.

Love,
Joanna

City-Outfit + Blogger Workshop in Stuttgart

A while ago Jeanette came to Stuttgart – straight after the blogger workshop that I had the honor of participating in as a guest speaker.
We both enjoyed the beautifully sunny/windy weather and especially each other’s company.
After several days she left for home full of ideas and new inspiration – her next post will feature a topic on beauty, something I am already very much looking forward to!

By the way:
An elegant yet relaxed look for almost everywhere and every day:
Blazer with a print-shirt and jeans.

Perfect for everyone who likes an uncomplicated style, but still doesn’t want to be running around looking scruffy – and above all neither looking too severe nor frumpy ;).
You can take it all a notch up with fancy metallic pumps and a leather purse with a long fringe.

Let’s talk about: the blogger workshop:

I was full of anticipation and suspense with regard to the people I would meet there – and I was more than overwhelmed by all the strikingly beautiful, talented and inquisitive women participants.

Before entering the room, where the workshop took place I briefly waited in front of the restroom, which was occupied. When the door opened, the emerging woman – up to then a total stranger to me– flung her arms right around my neck. Yeah, this rocks.

Note:
From now on I ALWAYS demand a welcome committee right at the restroom door.
If this is not feasible, I will not accept any requests to attend as a speaker at all.

What I wanted to tell the (aspiring) bloggers I told them already on location, which is why I only have a short message to all blog readers today:

The women blogging for you are truly wonderful.
They are lovely, lively, with a sense of humor, likeable.
They give their heart and soul, share their talents and their ideas with you, they really make an effort and invest a lot of their time into text and pictures.
They are at it with ardor and passion.
(A little secret;): if the blog seems likeable to you, it is a fact that the author is the same! If, however, you find negative things on a blog, it is mirrored in the person as well ;). I personally keep being fascinated by this correlation in the virtual world!).
That’s why at this point and as an exception I have to ask a favor of the readers:
If you enjoy their blogs, encourage them and leave some lovely words!
Simply let them feel your gratitude – because they open their virtual living room for you and let you share all the beautiful things that they were gifted with themselves.
It requires a lot of time and work – you’d be surprised how much of it in fact.
For if you read a blog for a longer period of time, it seems perhaps like something you do naturally after a while – but especially the smaller blogs are very happy about positive feedback!

Among the participants were, for example…
Sabine with her sewing instructions,
Barbara  (with the wackiest kid’s fancy dress  of all times. O.M.G.),
Nadja via Richtungswechsel,
the enchanting and very young Annalena via Heyfoodsister (DO NOT read this blog at night. Just trust me.),
Katrin via Schneewittchensapfel,
Rieke with her very new blog,
Lilli via inspiring green,
the most beautiful Snjezie and Beyhan and many more!

Thank you to all the wonderful blogging ladies, also for the mails and positive feedback I got subsequently: I was very happy about every single one of them!
Thank you for letting me inspire you!

And you as the readers will provide great pleasure to your favorite blogs, if you encourage and invigorate the (partly still young) bloggers – they share their best with you and are happy when you express your gratitude in words.

I am already very much looking forward to the May workshop!

Love,
Joanna

Ideas for Mother’s Day + why I’ll be going to Hawaii soon.

Today I have some inspiration for Mother’s Day:

- a pretty craft project,

- a simple muffin recipe,
- and some small yet special gifts, all of which you can order online.

I made small cubes from air-drying clay – even very small kids can manage to make them!

Equipped with wire they make pretty notecard holders to insert short love notes or small pictures.

The Mother’s Day breakfast spread will be perfect with home-made raspberry-Rafaello muffins and a stylish scented candle.

If you like you can present your mom with an additional surprise: a rose gold star dangling from a silk ribbon in summer colors.

Those who would like to write a lengthier love note for their moms can do so in a particularly pretty way with this stylish wire heart notecard.

The muffins are not too sweet and have only a faint coconut taste – easy peasy preparation!

Raspberry-Rafaello-Muffins

6 Rafaellos (Ferrero)

1 cup raspberries
1 egg
1 and ¼ cup flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
4 Tbsp. butter
½ cup sugar
1 cup milk
1 Tbsp. vanilla powder

Cube butter, sift flour into a mixing bowl.
Add sugar and butter and mix well.
Make a dent in the middle.
Mix egg and milk and add to the dry ingredients all in one go.
Mix with an electric mixer approx. 3 minutes.
Add Raffaellos to the dough and mix again at medium speed.
Gently fold the raspberries into the dough.
Fill paper muffin liners to two thirds with dough.
Bake in a preheated oven at 400F for 15 minutes, until muffins have risen and are brown.

For the notecard holders you will need:

- air-drying clay (e.g. from
Amazon)
- wire (I usually ask at the florist’s for stiff floral wire, which you can buy separately)
- gold paint spray (plus white, if you like)
- loose glitter.

Cut a wide strip off the block of clay and cut the strip into cubes.
Tip:
if the shape of a cube is not nice, press it from both sides simultaneously with two big knives or small cutting boards, until achieving the desired square shape.
Let dry for a few hours. In the meantime wind the wire around your finger a couple of times and flatten – you want to be able to slide a piece of paper in between later.
Next spray paint the wire with the gold paint, spray paint the half-dried cubes with the white paint.
If you want the cubes to be glittery later you have to sprinkle a bit of glitter over the cubes while the paint is still wet.

After the paint has dried shorten the wires to different lengths and carefully stick them into the cubes.

A few days ago I stood at the door in my PJs at 7am in the morning – as I always do – while Ben was putting on his shoes.
It suddenly hit me like a bolt of lightning that Mother’s Day is not far off; this was followed by a natural “choking” sensation.
Unfortunately I automatically feel sick on occasions like this, for we all know it well: expectations, expectations, expectations.

I said to Ben spontaneously:
"It’s Mother’s Day again soon…”
Ben, while putting on his jacket:
"... and I have certain expectations!”
Me: "... which are?"
Ben (without missing a beat!): "1. A wellness day at the spa. 2. A trip to Hawaii. 3. A three-tier cake.”
Me: "But I want every tier in a different flavor.”
Ben: "No problem."
Me: "Or you could braid my hair INSTEAD.”
Ben: "But Mama! Sadly, I DON’T KNOW how to braid!”
Me: "Well then. The bottom tier with chocolate, please.”

I also would have been infinitely happy about a voucher for hair braiding, no question!

Happy 1st Birthday, DeinLieblingsladen!

At DeinLieblingsladen (literally: Your Favorite Shop) the name says it all.
One of my favorite online shops, founded by very likeable ladies, celebrates its first birthday!
You can always find basics with a special touch, ideal for daily use, the prettiest jewelry and accessories – everything with loving and personal support and perfect customer service.
Labels such as Bronzeallure, Oakwood, Maison Scotch add up to a beautiful mix.

Congratulations!

In honor of the occasion I am wearing a softly draping multi-layered blouse with delicate jewelry and a relaxed leather jacket – perfect for right now!
The blouse features a pretty detail for tying in the back, and the bracelet has a 24-carat pendant – both things can be combined in many different ways and match every shade of color.

A tip:
At the moment I wear my Bronzeallure rose gold rings together – it makes even more of a statement and all the colors of the semi-precious stones harmonize beautifully.

Speaking about statement ;):
Only when I looked at the images I noticed how many small brown spots there are on my back (you don’t see yourself from behind every day ;)).
When I was little I once tried to count all the birth marks on my body, but I resigned and gave up at approx. 300.

If you look at it closely I look like a cupcake with chocolate sprinkles – I like every one of them on me ;).

Does your body also have something special that you love?

In order for you to also celebrate in style I am giving away a gift card for DeinLieblingsladen worth 100,-€!

Hello May!

In April...

- I was at the Baltic Sea and several times in Berlin, and I brought 5
important revelations and 5 "where to go" tips back for you.

- you learned about
10 facts about my little nephew.

- there was a "somebunny loves you"
dessert table for Easter and glamorous glitter Easter eggs.

- Jeanette wrote another
fashion post,

- There were also a good few things to eat:

- Jil’s super healthy chocolate cake,
- Strawberry tartlets with a meringue top ,
- Granola muffins,
- Yogurt waffles,
- Quinoa granola,
- Tacos

- and appropriately:
exercise!
Entirely without pressure, stress and guilty conscience.
(Never thought we’d live to see the day when I write about exercise.)

- I encouraged you with regard to taking
the first small steps to tap your full potential, and I took every excuse away from you. Literally EVERY one of them. You are welcome, thank you, it was a pleasure.

Oh, and I was gone on vacation for two weeks ;).

And here it is already: the month of May!

What a gift it is for me to be able to share it with you – every time anew I feel grateful and overwhelmed by this opportunity!

This is truly the only reason I write these retrospect posts. To make myself aware that I am the luckiest devil in the world, tadaa.
Excuse me, but how wonderful is my life?
I have permission to share my everyday life with you, to pass on my ideas, to test delicious recipes and even to write nonsense, just whatever I feel like – and you enjoy it all and are excited and, oh my…..THANK YOU!

During the month of May we will do exactly THAT.

We will enjoy and celebrate and be happy and become more laid-back, more relaxed, more hopeful, more self-assured, more liberated and more grateful with every passing day.
In a nutshell:
Love and strawberries galore.

That sounds like a REALLY great May.

So stay tuned, dear readers.
I am looking forward to it!

Love

Joanna

p.s. while I am writing this my computer makes sounds.

Loud sounds.
Sounds reminiscent of a motor-bike starting up.
Sounds of a kind that you don’t ever want to hear from a laptop.

On a holiday, of course.
